Split System Configuration Guide

This guide covers all the fields and options available when configuring split system quotes in the Cooledge mobile app. Each section corresponds to the exact options you'll see in the iOS app.

Overview

Split systems consist of an indoor unit and outdoor unit connected by refrigerant pipes. This guide details every configuration option available in the Cooledge app for accurate quoting.

1. Installation Type

Choose the type of installation environment:

Available Options:

  • House: Standard residential house installation
  • Apartment: Apartment or unit installation (may have different access requirements)

Installation type affects labor requirements and access considerations.

2. Power Supply Configuration

Configure the electrical supply for the split system:

Available Options:

  • Not Set: No power option selected yet
  • Reuse: Use existing electrical connection
  • Reuse - Upgrade to RCBO: Reuse connection but upgrade safety switch to RCBO
  • Existing Local Power Circuit: Use nearby existing circuit
  • Existing Local Power - Electrical Capping: Use existing circuit with capping for neat finish
  • New Dedicated Circuit: Install completely new dedicated electrical circuit
  • Excluded: Electrical work not included in quote

Important Details:

  • New Dedicated Circuit: Includes RCBO switch (residual current operated circuit breaker with overload protection) by licensed electrician
  • RCBO Upgrade: Provides enhanced electrical safety compared to standard circuit breakers
  • Excluded Option: Use when customer is handling electrical work separately

3. Outdoor Unit Mounting

Select how the outdoor unit will be mounted:

Available Options:

  • Not Set: No mounting option selected
  • Anti Vibration Rubber Mat: Standard rubber mat (usually included at no extra cost)
  • Evocrete Slab: Concrete mounting pad for stable installation
  • Adjustable Anti Vibration Feet: Height-adjustable mounting feet
  • PVC Mounting Feet: Plastic mounting feet for elevation
  • Brackets up to 2m: Wall or fence mounting up to 2 meters high
  • Brackets above 2m: Wall or fence mounting above 2 meters high
  • Brackets up to 2m - stainless: Stainless steel brackets up to 2m (marine/corrosive environments)
  • Brackets above 2m - stainless: Stainless steel brackets above 2m (marine/corrosive environments)

Mounting Considerations:

  • Ground Level: Anti-vibration mat or evocrete slab
  • Elevated Mounting: Brackets for wall/fence mounting
  • Harsh Environments: Stainless steel brackets for coastal or industrial areas
  • Stability: Evocrete slabs provide the most stable foundation

4. Pipe Length Configuration

Set the distance from indoor to outdoor unit:

Default Settings:

  • Starting Length: 3 meters (included in base installation)
  • Additional Length: Charged per meter beyond 3m
  • Reuse Option: Set to 0 if reusing existing pipework

Considerations:

  • Measure the actual distance including any vertical runs
  • Include extra length for routing around obstacles
  • Longer runs may require larger pipe diameters

5. Trunking Configuration

Configure decorative covering for exposed pipes:

Trunking Length:

  • Starting Length: 2 meters (default)
  • Additional Length: Charged per additional length
  • Reuse Option: Set to -1.0 if reusing existing trunking

Color Options:

Choose from 23 available colors:

Standard Colors:

  • Surfmist (most popular)
  • Evening Haze
  • Shale Grey
  • Dune

Additional Colors:

  • Windspray
  • Wallaby
  • Jasper
  • Basalt
  • Ironstone
  • Terrain
  • Monument
  • Classic Cream
  • Paperbark
  • Pale Eucalypt
  • Woodland Grey
  • Deep Ocean
  • Cottage Green
  • Manor Red
  • Night Sky
  • Sandbank
  • Bushland
  • Wilderness

Trunking Tips:

  • Match to existing building colors where possible
  • Surfmist is the most common and readily available
  • Consider weathering and maintenance when selecting colors

6. Internal Plastic Capping

Configure internal pipe covering:

Options:

  • Length: Set in meters (0 = not required)
  • Purpose: Covers internal pipework for neat finish
  • When to Use: When pipes are exposed inside the building

7. Condensate Drain Configuration

Set up drainage for condensation:

Drain Location Options:

  • Outside: Drain directly outside (most common)
  • Garden / Lawn: Drain to garden area
  • Downpipe / Floor Waste: Drain to existing drainage
  • Reuse: Use existing drain connection

Condensate Pump:

  • Required: Toggle on if gravity drainage not possible
  • When Needed: Indoor unit above drain point or long drain runs
  • Includes: Pump unit and additional plumbing

8. Labor Configuration

Set installation time and crew requirements:

Time Allowance Options:

  • 3 hours: Basic installation
  • 4 hours: Standard installation
  • 5 hours: Standard with complications
  • 6 hours: Complex installation
  • 7 hours: Full day with difficulties
  • 8 hours: Maximum day rate

Number of Installers:

  • Single man: One installer (most common)
  • Extra men entire job: Additional installer for full job
  • Extra men access/beginning 1 hour: Extra help for initial access/setup
  • Extra men outdoor installation/end: Extra help for outdoor unit installation

Special Requirements:

  • Long Ladder: Required for high installations
  • Lifter Type:
    • Max 3.2m: Standard lifter
    • Above 3.2m: Heavy-duty lifter for high installations

9. Removal Options

Configure removal of existing equipment:

Removal Types:

  • No: No removal required (new installation)
  • Indoor and Outdoor: Complete system removal
  • Indoor Only: Remove indoor unit only
  • Outdoor Only: Remove outdoor unit only

Removal Considerations:

  • Factor in disposal costs
  • Consider refrigerant recovery requirements
  • Some removals may require additional labor time

10. Additional Options

Other Configuration Options:

Refund Call Out Fee:

  • Purpose: Refund initial site visit fee upon job acceptance
  • Toggle: On/Off option

Quote Notes:

  • Line 1: First line of custom notes
  • Line 2: Second line of custom notes
  • Purpose: Add specific job requirements or clarifications

Pricing Adjustments:

  • Adjustment: Dollar amount to add or subtract from total
  • Use Cases: Site-specific challenges or customer discounts

Photo Documentation:

  • Indoor Photos: Photos of indoor installation area
  • Outdoor Photos: Photos of outdoor installation area
  • Other Photos: Additional site documentation

11. Best Practices

Accurate Quoting:

  • Site Survey: Always conduct proper site assessment
  • Measure Carefully: Accurate pipe lengths avoid surprises
  • Document Challenges: Use photos and notes for unusual installations
  • Power Assessment: Verify electrical requirements on-site

Customer Communication:

  • Explain Options: Help customers understand mounting and color choices
  • Set Expectations: Clear timeline based on time allowance selected
  • Discuss Access: Ensure adequate access for installation

Common Configurations:

  • Standard House: Anti-vibration mat, new dedicated circuit, 3m pipes
